On the Beach
Robert Walton
Pigeons mince and strut
Like Oliver Hardy in a huff
As Day-glow-lime-lycra-wrapped
Buttocks bounce,
Bob-jogging down sands,
Sahara white.
Both birds and bikini girl are
Impervious to all
But their own business.
Waves’ ends,
Foam and meek bubbles,
Slide over their footprints,
Erasing all traces,
Before sucking back
As the next wave
Exhales.
