Note From a Lost Pencil
Bill Simmons

You laid me here

With a bunch of pens

On the white phone clutch,

The one that holds the phone

That no one ever uses,

Surrounded by blank pads

Staring at the kitchen ceiling

With a sharp lead;

I’m ready to go—

Are you still looking for me?

Your bacon’s burning.
