Fall Fox
Bruce Morton

Red Reynard
He has come to visit.
Sits so still on the deck
In his fashion, full-furred,
Wearing the winter coat,
Head cocked just so, watches
Us watching him watching
Us. It is a watchoff.
Then he moves on, quiet,
To the neighbors who have
The chickens.

Bruce Morton splits his time between Montana and Arizona. He was formerly a librarian at Montana State University.
